Review and release workflows

On this page

Workflow releases separate editable drafts from the versions clients use. Review the full behavior change, test it in sandbox, and publish the intended version through the release lifecycle.

Edit a draft#

Open a released action and choose Edit Workflow to create or enter its draft. Changes to nodes, scripts, connections, or route settings belong in the draft until reviewed.

A draft is not a production release. Saving the canvas or restoring a historical version into a draft does not by itself prove that production changed.

Prepare the candidate#

Before creating a release, review:

  • Entry node and every branch connection.
  • HTTP method, route, response shape, and client compatibility.
  • Gateway authentication and IdP authorization.
  • Sandbox and production selector values and database bindings.
  • External side effects, schedules, and app dependencies.
  • Tests for success, failure, empty results, and denied access.

Use Workflows → Releases to inspect candidates, review differences, and perform the approval and release actions available to your role. Keep the release description specific: what changed, which clients are affected, and how it was tested.

Verify after publication#

Call the actual production route with the intended client credentials. Check the response and the corresponding action log. If the workflow serves a web app, exercise its real page interaction too; a successful build or release status does not validate the business result.

Recover a known version#

Use release history and the available rollback controls to return to a known released version. To revise an older design, restore that version into a draft, review it, and release it normally.

Rollback changes workflow behavior; it does not automatically reverse database writes, emails, payments, or other effects of earlier runs. Plan data recovery separately.

Discarding a draft removes unshipped edits and returns you to the published workflow. Export important work before discarding it when you may need those changes again.
